   There are 14 attached Praesidia, 4 Comitia, 17 Curia as well as 12 Comitia in 5 Diocese in a number of the Pacific Islands.  They carried out a 3 week visitation in Kiribati.  Vanuaty Comitium has embarked on a programme to bring about reconciliation between the local tribes. Perth Comitium are making definite efforts to extend.  The Seamans Mission in Tasmania is visited.

Crowd contact at a University takes place with a book stall.  Pub visitation was started. Vietnamese Curia: 30 active members reported 9 returns to the faith. Korean Curia of 24 senior and junior praesidia reported 3 baptisms.

 Recruiting and extension work is ongoing.  1 young peoples praesidia of 11 members started.  Junior praesidium of 14 work with seniors, assist geriatric patients to Monthly Mass and help at a piety stall weekly.  40 children, 1 adult and 19 high school students received into the Church.

<blocktext><council>Western Visayas Regia  </council>
A Seminary praesidium carried out retreats and recollections for students in public schools.  Legionaries conduct Liturgy of the Word services when a Priest cannot celebrate Mass.  75 enrolled in the Brown Scapular.  21 youths were recruited for Association of the Sacred Heart.  Catechism was taught to 12-17 year old in mates.

<blocktext><council>Bicolandia Senatus</council>
37 children baptised, 32 marriages validated.  A Jehovah Witness family was brought back to the faith.  Enthronements of the Sacred Heart.  Praesidium was started in a military establishment.

<blocktext><council> Northern Philippines (Manila)</council>
A Muslim couple were baptised and married in Church.  74 converted, 177 marriages were validated.  735 children and 350 adults were baptised.  215 confirmations took place.  11 juniors graduated into Seniors.

2 Regia, 20 Comitia, 17 Curiae and 8 praesidia are attached to Senatus. 3 new junior praesidia were formed in a school.  10 praesidia are involved inviting non-Catholics to Mass and are quite successful.  Works covered home, hospital, prison visitation as well as Catechism instruction, conversions and marriage validation.

All were very happy with the two visitors from Concilium  and wish to thank Concilium for the visit.  Ndunde Garde Comitium set up a new Comitium and has now 14 Curiae.  A praesidium of 13 members has contacts under instruction has had returns to practice and keeps in close contact with the elderly.

A new Curia has been set up and visitation of praesidia and Councils is carried out regularly. The three causes are promoted.

In September 38 legionaries went on Peregrinatio to the island of Brava.  They comprised 3 teams and worked in 2 parishes, visiting homes, bars, etc. and did street contact.  The Sacrament of Baptism was the theme for the project and the P.P described the project as a 'spiritual bath'.

A new Curia has commenced at Damongo with 9 praesidia.  The detailed report on the visit to Sierra Leone by 2 members of the Senatus has been received at Concilium.  81 legionaries took part in an extension drive in the Keta Comitium area and contacted 2155.  A visit to a medium security prison discovered 88 active legionaries and they have 30 under instruction.  2 other prisons were also visited.  A praesidium of 10 has 24 under instruction whilst another praesidium of 16  instructed 90 for Baptism, 110 for Confirmation, 40 children baptised and 120 under instruction.  The praesidium at Legon University has 33 members and was recommended to split.  An extension drive resulted in the revival of a women's praesidium, the formation of a men's intermediate and junior praesidia.  The Cape Coast Comitium has 13 praesidia attached, one in the University and one in the Major Seminary.

<country>Zimbabwe</country>

Four members travelled to Katilia Mulido in Namibia and held workshops for seniors and juniors.  The Curia has now 93 seniors, 211 juniors and 69 auxiliaries. 410 attended a Congress.  A new senior praesidium has commenced in a resettlement area and several junior praesidia have been revived.

A new Curia has been set up.  160 attended the Acies.  A 7th Day Adventist was converted and has been married in the Church, a lapsed Catholic who attended a Methodist Church has returned to practice.

The Curia has 6 praesidia attached.  Every report has children under instruction and a junior praesidium with 13 youths has commenced.  Councils and praesidia are visited.

<country>Republic of South Africa, Namibia and Swaziland</country>

His Grace, Archbishop Lawrence Henry was the Chief Celebrant at the Mass to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the 1st praesidium in the Western Cape in September.  Legionaries were in attendance from as far away as Port Elizabeth.  130 attended a Day of Recollection.  The Keimoes Curia has 10 praesidia attached.  A praesidium of 14 active members visit the prison and a lady returned to practice after 15 years and this resulted in her daughter and her grandchildren coming into the Church.  A praesidium which visits 2 retired Priests was instrumental in bringing one on a visit to a dying friend.  Another praesidium visits a hostel for the blind, arranges time for Confession, visits the mentally handicapped and the prison.  The regular visits to a non Catholic lady has resulted in her taking instruction.

<blocktext><council>Johannesburg Senatus</council>
 The Soweto Comitium had a Sunday search for souls in a squatter camp at the end of August.  The East Rand Curia visit the recently received converts, encourage the lapsed to return to practice and to have their babies baptised.  A praesidium at Edenvale visit a home for severely handicapped children on a weekly basis.  Non Catholics were contacted in a local park.  Many of the legionaries went on pilgrimage to the Shrine at Ntshongweni and were addressed by Cardinal Napier.  Hospitals and homes for the aged are visited.   Durban Comitium.  The Queen of Peace Curia had over 300 at its Congress.  A praesidium prepared 24 for Baptism, 30 for First Holy Communion, 28 for Confirmation and had 4 marriages regularised.  A praesidium of 16 carried out an Exploratio Dominicalis project to a very troubled area in Durban and 5 praesidia made contacts in Shebeens.  Marianhill Comitium:  120 and 300 attended retreats.  The Uganda Curia has 8 praesidia and the members look after the elderly and infirm - bathing, washing clothes etc; they reach out to the orphans, teach catechism, encourage the lapsed to return to practice etc.  Matatiele Comitium: A praesidium of 20 members had 12 conversions and another praesidium got 25 youth to attend a discussion on the Sacraments.  At. Augustine's Comitium,  Queen of Peace Curia has 290 active members, members teach Catechism, visits homes, hospitals etc.  Immaculate Mother Curia has 20 praesidia and reach out to the sick and the elderly and also encourage the youth to attend Mass.

Reports received by the Senatus from Curiae in Ayrshire, Edinburgh and another area which have 4, 10 and 16 praesidia respectively show a variety of apostolic work being done including visits to schools in May to pray the Rosary with the children. A team of 10 carried out a Peregrinatio Pro Christo project in Oulu in Finland.  The parish priest did crowd contact with the team for about 4 hours each day of the project.  Afterwards he said "you have revealed to us how to be missionary in this land".

<blocktext><council>Birmingham Senatus:</council>
 As a result of home visitation by legionaries in a praesidium at Handsworth, 3 people were received into the Church at Easter.  A Vietnamese praesidium of 8 members and 36 auxiliaries carries out a very valuable apostolate to its own community.  During the weekend of the Rosary Rally in June the praesidium in Saltly organised a presentation on Fatima, which had attendance of 120 people, mostly Muslims.  Two of the new praesidia set up by legionaries from the Concilium are progressing well.   
Liverpool Senatus:  A praesidium of 10 members in Leeds Comitium carry out works of care and give religious instruction to children.  Newcastle Comitium has a new junior praesidium and there are new senior praesidia in Blackpool and Manchester.

<blocktext><council>London </council>
 The report on the area covered 2 Comitia, 10 Curiae and 12 of the 21 praesidia directly attached to the Concilium.  Both Southwark and Bretwood Comitia meet with non Catholics and non Christians in the course of their apostolate.  Legionaries are being encouraged to set up the Legion among the different nationalities.  Some of the former who have shown interest in the Catholic Church have been introduced to the RCIA programme .  One of the reporting Curia Barnet is active with works including RCIA, open door programme for laity and promoter of the three Legion causes. A former member of Enfield and Haringey was instrumental in setting up the new praesidium in Balls Pond Road.  Northampton Curia was given permission to split into a North and a South Curia.  A new praesidium in Bletchley started with four members and now has ten.    In Spanish Place praesidium works include home to home visitation as well as crowd contact work in Baker Street.  Other praesidia reported on works such as home to home visitation, tourist crowd contact and the promotion of the Causes.

  Officers of Senatus recently visited the 2 Chaldean praesidia in Stockholm and Skarholmen which have a large membership as well as the praesidia in Vaxjo and Malmo.

<blocktext><council>Cardiff Comitium:</council>
  Each of the attached Curiae of Merthyr and Gwent has 2 praesidia which visit the sick and elderly.
Swansea Curia (under the caretakership of Birmingham Senatus) has got permission and are trying to start praesidia in two parishes.  Four legionaries from Birmingham Senatus spent a weekend in Swansea helping and introducing the legionaries to more heroic work viz street rescue, etc.

<blocktext><council>Strasbourg Senatus</council>
  Tidings of joy for Lea Maurer and her officers - the ordination at Chateauneuf de Galaure of former president Emmanuel Granger and the nomination as Titular Canon of the Cathedral of Strasbourg of legionary Spiritual Director Canon Zirnheld.  The PPC project at Cadenet had volunteers at the Permanence of Lourdes, instead of going home, went on to Lourdes to ensure the continuance of the apostolate there and the daily carrying of the vexilium.

<blocktext><council>Paris Regia:</council>
 The second Haitian praesidium has 9 members who visit homes and hospitals.  They organised a retreat in Creole which resulted in a number of families returning to Sunday Mass.  The Vietnamese Curia has 9 praesidia with 92 active members and 465 auxiliaries. Resulting from their apostolate 9 adults and 1 young person received Baptism and Confirmation, 7 people including one aged 95 returned to practice and a couple had their marriage regularised.  
Valence Regia:  The two junior praesidia based in the boys' and girls' secondary schools at Chateauneuf de Galaure started again after the summer break.  Attention is given to Auxiliary members and one praesidium has 2 Religious communities enrolled as Adjutorian members.  Nice Curia has 10 praesidia including one in Monaco.  Prostitutes in Nice city are contacted and a homeless person was brought to the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

<country>Belgium</country>

<blocktext><council>Brussels Senatus </council>
has 9 directly attached praesidia, a Curia at Namur with 6 praesidia and 2 Curiae in Liege with a total of 12 praesidia.  An English speaking praesidium do a variety of works and gives special care to the recently converted.

<blocktext><council>The Netherlands:</council>
  A new praesidium has been set up with 8 members in Africa House, Amsterdam.  Following a Peregrinatio Pro Christo project in Hengelo, by Birmingham Senatus, the parish priest has shown interest in starting a praesidium.  The Korean Curia works among its own community with excellent results.  The report of a praesidium in Amsterdam, which works among the homeless, was sent to the Auxiliary Bishop, who was impressed and promised to attend a few Legion functions in the future

 has two attached Curiae at Olten and N.E. Switzerland.  It was recently visited by Frankfurt Senatus on behalf of the Concilium.

  The 3 praesidia visit the sick and elderly and arrange days of recollection.

<country>Germany</country>

<blocktext><council>Frankfurt Senatus:</council>
   The Korean Curia has 9 praesidia.  It organises a youth Mass twice monthly and it had 9 adults and 3 children baptised.  The Vicar General of Mainz Diocese attended the 25th Jubilee of the pilgrimage to Maria Einseidel.  He brought greetings from Cardinal Lehmann and expressed the thanks of the Diocese to the Legion for organising the pilgrimage.
Munich Senatus:  An attached praesidium has 10 active and 72 auxiliary members and visits Catholics newly moved into the parish.  Curia Amberg has 12 praesidia with 90 active members.  Auxiliary Bishop Guzzenberger presided at their Acies.  A Patrician meeting is organised regularly by the praesidium in Tirschenreuth.

 <country>Middle East</country>
<blocktext><council>Jerusalem Comitium:</council>
 Visitation of the sick, elderly and bereaved is carried out.  The Rosary and Marian devotions are promoted and the Way of the Cross along the Via Dolorosa is organised for groups.  The praesidium in Jericho is doing well.  A new praesidium in Jaffa has 18 members and one in Haifa marks the return of the Legion to there.
