<blocktext><council>Philadelphia Senatus:</council> The praesidium in St. Charles Seminary has 11 members.  Delaware County North Curia have 30 Praetorians among their 94 members.  Our Lady of Mercy Korean Curia does street evangelisation outside shopping centres and had 5 returns to the Sacraments, 16 Baptisms and 3 Marriages validated.

<blocktext><council>Metuchen Comitium New Jersey:</council>
  The Hispanic Curia has 11 praesidia with 75 new members.  An extension drive resulted in one new praesidium.  Camden Comitium New Jersey has 11 senior and 3 junior praesidia and 4 curia attached.  They have four book barrows and visit nine prisons.  The Senatus officers visited the newly raised Regia of Pittsburgh.</blocktext>

<blocktext><council>Los Angeles Senatus:</council>  Our Lady of Mercy Curia does street evangelisation outside shopping centres. A number of book barrows are now on main thoroughfares and shopping malls.  The Vietnamese Curia in Orange County has 23 praesidia with many young people.</blocktext>  

<blocktext><council>Cincinnati Senatus:</council>  Extension resulted in 5 new praesidia being set up.  Works include Boy Scouts, home and jail visitation, a Holy Hour for Youth and Retreats.  The Regia of Detroit has 1 Comitium, 7 Curiae and 8 praesidia and covers most of the state of Michigan.  Dayton Curia has a "Come Home" for lapsed Catholics.</blocktext>  

<blocktext><council>St. Louis Senatus:</council> 13 newly ordained Priests were each given a copy of the Legion Handbook.  The Senatus has written to all the dioceses in their area seeking permission to extend the Legion.  9 Baptisms and 2 conversions were reported.</blocktext>

<blocktext><council>San Francisco Senatus:</council>  The five praesidia reporting at the Senatus are engaged in door-to-door visitation and crowd contact.  They instructed two Chinese ladies in the faith.  Stockton Comitium does jail visitation.  San Jose Comitium encourages its junior praesidia to teach respect for the Eucharist.  In North San Mateo they are working on a new idea of a Family praesidium. 50 legionaries took part in a daylong home visitation.  Oregon Comitium set up new praesidia in Oregon and North Utah.  Anchorage Comitium has a book barrow at a farmers market and contacts tourists and locals.</blocktext>  

<blocktext><council>Chicago Senatus:</council>
 A Priest who attended a few Legion meetings found himself contacting people in banks and shops.</blocktext>  

<blocktext><council>Houston Senatus:</council>  A Peregrinatio Pro Christo project to Mexico took place in June.  Archbishop Fiorenza officiated at the Acies in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Curia.  The Spanish Curia visited 279 homes.  El Paso Curia divided a praesidium.  The Bishop of Amarillo attended the Curia meeting and expressed the wish that all his parishes would have a praesidium.  The Korean Curia started a new junior praesidium.  Mass was held for the Venerable Edel Quinn where 72 attended.  Albuquerque Comitium has praesidia in 3 prisons.  Dallas Comitium has airport and prison ministries.  New Orleans Comitium is still devastated after the hurricane last year.  Praesidia are slowly surfacing.  Baton Rouge Curia report good works being done including sheltering the refugees in their own homes.  Membership is increasing in City Curia.</blocktext>  

<blocktext><council>Arlington Regia:</council>  A new Curia has been established in Virginia.  3 new praesidia were started in West Virginia.</blocktext>

<country>West Indies</country>

<blocktext><council>Haiti Senatus:</council>  Reports show that good work is done in spite of difficulties.  Catechism and literacy courses are held and many people are prepared for the Sacraments.  Street children are contacted.</blocktext>

<country>Dominican Republic </country>

<blocktext><council>Santiago de los Caballeros Regia:</council>  Discussions are taking place about restructuring the Legion in the country.</blocktext>

<blocktext><council>Santo Domingo Senatus:</council>  The Comitium Reina de las Paz has 11 praesidia and 7 Curiae with 807 active members including 88 praetorians and 2,309 auxiliary members.  165 evangelising visits to homes and 168 visits to prisons and 285 visits to juvenile prisons were carried out.  690 children were prepared for First Holy Communion.</blocktext>  

<blocktext><council>Trinidad Senatus:</council>  Homes are visited and prayers are said with the residents.  Holy Communion is brought to the sick.</blocktext>  

<country>Canada</country>

<blocktext><council>Montreal Senatus:</council>  Works in the Senatus include visiting the sick, teaching Catechism to children and preparing them for the Sacraments and visiting prisons.  Praesidia attached to councils range from 5 in Gaspe Curia to 14 in Quebec Comitium.</blocktext>

<blocktext><council>Toronto Regia:</council>  Columban Drives have been organised in most councils.  New members and new praesidia resulted.  5 Patrician meetings have 12 to 20 people attending.</blocktext>  

<blocktext><council>Vancouver Comitium:</council>  10 Curiae and 16 praesidia are attached to this council.  A Congress held in February was well attended.  Officers from Kamloops and Okanogan attended.  Bishop Gagnon gave the address and spoke of the Legion's work and paid tribute to the Handbook.    Reporting praesidia are involved in prison visitation, down town street contact, home and hospital visitation.</blocktext>  

<blocktext><council>Edmonton Comitium:</council>  A new Patrician group has been established in a Curia in Calgary.  A Columban Drive took place and a new praesidium was established.  Consecration to the Sacred Heart is promoted in new housing estates.</blocktext>

<blocktext><council>Ontario Senatus:</council>  Children in First Communion classes at school are visited and also nursing homes.  A book barrow is brought out on to the street.</blocktext>

<blocktext>London and Environs</blocktext>



<blocktext><council>Comitia </council>
<b>Brentwood Comitium</b> cares for 2 curiae and 16 directly affiliated praesidia.  Efforts to extend features in most reports.  Home to home and Nursing home visitation has resulted in a number of people coming back to the practice of their faith.  Auxiliary membership is very much to the fore and is assisted by the annual get-together for auxiliaries.  The Cause of the Servant of God Frank Duff is promoted.  
<b>Southwark Comitium</b> cares for 6 Curiae and has praesidia operating in 14 parishes.  A new praesidium was established in St. George's Cathedral parish, Southwark on Sunday 9th April with a Spiritual Director and 12 members.  The praesidium reporting in Deptford parish has 23 active and 65 auxiliary members doing home to home visitation,  Pilgrim statue and nursing home visitation.</blocktext>

<blocktext><council>Curiae:</council><b>Barnet Curia</b> has 6 praesidia - 55 active members, 132 auxiliaries and has 21 parishes within its territory.  A recruiting drive yielded 3 probationers.  Home to home visitation is done where permitted, the members are involved in the "At Your Word Lord" programme and RCIA.  <b>Brent and Harrow</b> Curia has 4 praesidia  - average membership is 6.  Willesden held a recruiting drive and gained 9 new members.  Harrow on the Hill praesidium promotes the Frank Duff prayer leaflet and Wembley is starting a second praesidium to cater for those who work during the day.  <b>Northampton Curia</b> - has 8 senior praesidia, 65 active members.  Works - visitation of the elderly, housebound and bereaved, nursing homes and families of newly baptised babies. One praesidium also organises a monthly family Mass.  A new praesidium of 4 members has started in Bletchley and permissions have been given in other parishes.  <b>East Herts</b> Curia - one praesidium reporting has 9 active and 27 auxiliary members visiting 5 residential homes, also visit homes with the Pilgrim statue.  Hatfield praesidium has 7 members and in addition to visiting nursing homes organises Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament once a month.  <b>Hammersmith</b> Curia looks after praesidia in Hammersmith, Shepherds Bush, Brook Green, Whitton, Isleworth, Kensal Rise, Twickerham and Hampton Hill.  They are currently carrying out their annual audit.  Leicester Curia had 4 praesidia with memberships of 4,7, 9 and 12.  The Leicester praesidium recruited 9 active and 12 auxiliary members as a result of a recruiting drive in October, while a recruiting drive in the Hinckley Road parish in February resulted in 6 new members.  100 attended the Acies.</blocktext>

There are 17 praesidia currently attached to Concillium.  This report covers 6 praesidia in the parishes of Westminster, St. Charles Square, Holborn, Nottingham, Guernsey and the Isle of Wight.  3 of these have a membership of 9 each and the others have 5 and 6 members.  The works undertaken are home to home visitation, nursing home and hospital visitation and the visitation of auxiliary members with Maria Legionis.  Recruiting features in all reports.  30 attended the Acies in the Isle of Wight at which 4 members of the Bishop's Waltham praesidium also attended.</blocktext>

<subh>Visit of Officers to Concillium</subh>
<attn>14 officers of the London praesidia directly attached to the Concillium attended the June Concillium.  They reported on the meeting which was held the previous day at Concillium office.  All were most impressed with the outcome and are optimistic of the future direction of the Legion in the London area.</attn>

<zone>Africa </zone>

<blocktext><council>Reunion Comitium:</council>  Reports received deal with visitation of homes and hospitals - promoting daily prayer, - Sunday Mass attendance and regular Confession.  Efforts resulted in reconciliation of many families and many returns to Mass and Sacraments - often after many years and shortly before death.</blocktext>

<blocktext><council>Mauritius Comitium:</council>  Main works of praesidia are home and hospital visitation and teaching catechism to children.  The Comitium has 5 affiliated curiae, where Exploratio Dominicalis projects were organised.  Junior members visit a children's arts and crafts centre where they can speak on religious topics with those present there.</blocktext>

<country>Rwanda</country>
<blocktext><council>Kigali Senatus:</council>  Praesidia reports deal with visitation of homes, hospitals and prisons - contacting many ill and distressed people - many of them widows and orphans.  Regular visitation is continued to many who have returned to religious practice - to encourage them to remain faithful.  Reports from councils deal with recruiting and extension efforts - with emphasis on organisation of praesidia in schools and colleges.</blocktext> 

<country>Democratic Republic of Congo</country>

<blocktext><council>Kinshasa Senatus:</council> The Senatus is looking at the structures of the Legion in its area which is extremely large.</blocktext>

<blocktext><council>The Matadi Regia </council>in Bas Congo has 20,000 active members, 19,000 auxiliaries, 270 adjutorians.</blocktext> 

<blocktext><council>Kinshasa Comitium</council> has set up 3 new curiae - 2 senior and 1 junior and reports baptism of 908 babies, 194 marriages, 239 returns to sacraments and 21,000 hospital visits.</blocktext>  

<blocktext><council>Lubumbashi Regia, Katanga: </council> The Regia has sent a report after two years.  They held a Congress after which membership began to increase greatly.</blocktext>  

<country>Burundi</country>

<blocktext><council>Gitega Senatus:</council>  Some Comitia have set up praesidia among Civil Servants. As well as all the usual works, catechesis was taught to 1,354 pagan children, manual work was done on building of houses for poor people, a Curia succeeded in getting 215 pupils who had given up attending schools to return to continue their education.</blocktext>

<country>Venezuela</country>

<blocktext><council>Caracas Senatus:</council>  The Senatus celebrated its 56th anniversary in February.  165 legionaries attended a Congress.  There is also news of setting up a new Seminary praesidium.  The women's jail is visited regularly.  The indigenous population is being evangelised.  Two new Curiae have been set up recently.  There were three vocations to the Priesthood and one for a religious Sister.</blocktext>

<country>Uruguay</country>

<blocktext><council>Montevideo Senatus:</council>  A praesidium report indicated very good work being done, many homes were consecrated and legionaries participated in missions.</blocktext>

<country>Columbia</country>

<blocktext><council>Bogota Senatus:</council>  Up to date minutes show good progress.</blocktext>

<blocktext><council>Ecuador</council>Quito Senatus:  Great attention is being given to the terminally ill.  Legionaries are promoting the three Legion Causes widely.  Six new praesidia are being set up.</blocktext>


<subh>Extension Worker in Argentina - Susanna Maciel</subh>

<attn>Susana Maciel, extension worker for the Concilium has been working in the diocese of San Nicolas, province of Buenos Aires.  The Bishop and Priests gave permission to set up the Legion in the diocese because they were very impressed with a PPC project.  With the help of other legionaries from a nearby Comitium, she has set up 5 new praesidia.  All are doing home visitation and already have seen the positive results of their apostolate.</attn>  

<attn><b><u>Visit to Chile:</u></b>  Noel Lynch, Concillium Correspondent and former Envoy to Argentina On behalf of the Concillium, Noel Lynch and Jorge Garcia former president of Buenos Aires Senatus attended the first meeting of the newly constituted Senatus of Santiago, which is based on Benedicta Curia.  There were about 80 legionaries also in attendance.  It was a very happy occasion and the legionaries expressed great pleasure in being members of the new Senatus.  It shows great potential for future development of the Legion in the country.</attn>

<subh>Frank Duff Commemoration Ceremony, Glasnevin</subh>

<blocktext>The annual Commemoration Ceremony of the Servant of God Frank Duff was celebrated in Glasnevin Cemetry, Dublin on Sunday 4th June 2006.  There was an attendance of approximately 400.  Fr. Michael Ross SDB gave an inspiring address on Frank Duff and on his writings on the Holy Spirit and Our Blessed Lady.  Fr. Eamon McCarthy, Assistant to the Vice Postulator of the Cause of Frank Duff shared the platform and led the saying of the prayers.  The proceeding concluded with a procession to the graveside during which the Rosary was recited and hymns sung.</blocktext>  

<subh>Visit to Rome by Concillium Officers</subh>
<blocktext>Fr Bede McGregor Spiritual Director and Tommy McCabe President of the Concillium attended the meeting of Ecclesial Movements in Rome from Wednesday, 31 May to 2 June and were joined on Sunday 4 June by Enda Dunleavy Secretary, Janet Lowthe Treasurer, and Sile Ni Choclain, Vice President.</blocktext>  
<blocktext>In the course of the following days they visited the Pontifical Council for Culture and Interreligious Dialogue, the Congregation of Divine Worship, the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, the Pontifical Council of the Family, the Pontifical Council of the Laity, the Congregation of Oriental Churches and the Office of the Secretary of  State.  In addition, on the Wednesday they attended the General Audience of the Holy Father in St. Peter's Square.</blocktext> 

<subh>Youth Conference Dublin</subh>

<attn>The 5th Catholic youth conference organised by the Legion and held in All Hallows College Dublin on the 10th and 11th June 2006 attracted an attendance of 170 people including 14 Priests.  An excellent panel of speakers challenged the young audience to witness to their Catholic faith at all times and to avoid the minefield of relativism. 
The theme of the Conference 'Can you handle the Truth' was particularly apt in view of the Holy Fathers urging that all Catholics should be co-workers in the truth.</attn>  
 
 
 <subh>Cause of the Servant of God, Frank Duff</subh>

<attn>Tommy McCabe President and Fr. Bede McGregor Spiritual Director expressed appreciation to Fr. Eamon McCarthy for his untiring work for the cause of the Servant of God Frank Duff.  Fr. McCarthy is now returning to minister in his Diocese.  Appreciation was also expressed for the time Fr McCarthy gave to the hostels in Dublin.</attn>
