Philadelphia Senatus: Cardinal Rigali concelebrated Mass in Philadelphia Cathedral to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Legion. Extension is taking place in 16 parishes in Pittsburgh Comitium, Delaware County. Korean Curia had 20 converts and 4 returns to the Sacraments. Camden Comitium visits 9 prisons and have many Patrician groups and have a book barrow in Atlantic City and make many contacts. Bucks County Curia gained 12 active and 100 new Auxiliary members. Norristown Comitium visits homes and prisons, operates a book barrow and runs socials for street people.
Los Angeles Senatus: After 12 years visiting a Muslim, he came into the Church. Twelve legionaries took part in a Peregrinatio to Tijuana.
Boston Senatus: The Senatus is making necessary adjustments of councils and praesidia to fall in with the closure of parishes by the Church. Extension efforts resulted in 3 new praesidia plus 1 in a prison. In a Correction Home where the inmates are not allowed to congregate, the legionaries try to support the praesidium there by visiting the Home several times a week. Other works include door to door visitation and crowd contact.
Cincinnati Senatus: Two members of the Purdue University praesidium and another praesidium President have entered the Seminary. Extension by Immaculate Heart of Mary Curia has resulted in new praesidia.
St. Louis Senatus: Due to the closure of parishes in the Archdiocese of St. Louis 16 praesidia went out of existence, but in 2005, 20 new praesidia were set up. Works include jail visitation and supervising praesidia in jails. A Rosary Rally was held and there were returns to the Sacraments and 3 conversions.
San Francisco Senatus: Many reports feature Patrician meetings some with attendances of about 30. Seattle Comitium has legionaries from a multi-cultural background working with them. As a result of promoting the Miraculous Medal 2 new praesidia were started. The attached Bremerton Curia has an outreach to the Suquamish and other native tribes. The Chinese Curia attached to San Jose Comitium has 200 members in 9 praesidia. This Comitium has recently started 2 young adult praesidia. Oakland Comitium report 300 attending a Rosary Rally they organised.
Chicago Senatus: After the summer school last year, the Senatus promised to consider more extension, they now have submitted detailed plans in this connection. A Korean Curia did contact work at local Korean stores and secured 40 names for RCIA courses. In St. Cloud, legionaries visiting a Retirement Home were asked by the Protestant Minister to conduct a prayer service when he was unable to be present. A recruiting drive resulted in 5 new English speaking and 2 Lithuanian speaking members.
New York Senatus: Works listed in recent praesidia reports were door to door visitation, Nursing Home and Pilgrim Statue visitations. Results recorded in the course of a year by 1 praesidium were 1 return to Mass, 2 Baptisms, 4 First Holy Communions and1 person recruited for CCD.
Houston Senatus: Austin Comitium visits a Correctional and County Justice centre. The councils in Louisiana are still very disrupted since the hurricane of last year. They are heroic in their faithfulness. Bay Area Curia in Texas also felt the hurricane. At a Legion booth at a Strawberry Festival, Miraculous Medals and literature were distributed. Pharr Curia visits prisons and distributes Holy Communion, Rosaries and religious literature. Albuquerque Comitium started a new praesidium. Gallup Comitium did extension in Houck, Arizona. A Korean Curia is the mainstay of the community. They organise parish activities and evangelise immigrants and students.
Arlington Regia: Gate of Heaven Korean Curia has only 1 officer vacancy in their 28 praesidia and Washington Comitium has only 4 vacancies in 53 praesidia.
Miami Regia: Visitation of attached councils is in progress. The Regia secretary visited Jamaica and met the new Kingston Comitium President. Four out of 14 praesidia reporting at the Haitian Curia have a total of 88 members and 12 probationers. They have 91 auxiliary members. A promoter has been appointed for the Cause of the Servant of God, Frank Duff.
Africa
Rwanda
Recent minutes from Kilgali Senatus deal with reports from 5 praesidia with a total of 64 active members and 7 auxiliaries. Works reported included visitation of family homes and orphanages, manual works of service for poor and incapacited people, including securing firewood, tilling fields and repairing homes. Most contacts are Catholics, among whom many lapsed have been brought back to religious practice and are visited regularly to ensure their perseverance. Senatus organised an enclosed retreat and several days of formation to increase knowledge of the Legion of Mary, to uphold its standards and to stimulate efforts to recruit more literate active members, juniors and auxiliaries. Problems include a big percentage of elderly and illiterate members with a consequent difficulty in finding suitable officers and increased numbers of new sects invading the area.
Burundi:
Gitega Senatus minutes received indicate continued progress with mention of 3 new Comitia bringing the total to 36, 6 of these belonging to the Regia of Bujumbura.
Central African Republic: Excellent work is reported in family matters and errant young people being converted to a better life.
Democratic Republic of Congo
Kinshasa Senatus has resumed correspondence with the Concilium. They were saddened to learn of the death of their former Envoy, Anne O'Connor, and had Masses offered for her.
Reunion Island Comitium: Minutes give details of home and nursing home visitation, teaching catechism to children, preparing adults for Baptism, recruiting people for Eucharistic Adoration and public rosaries. Many lapsed Catholics visited in a nursing home asked to see a priest and received the Sacraments before they died. A praesidium reported the Baptism of 3 girls aged 15, 20 and 22, whose mother was a Jehovah's Witness.

In Madagascar following the Bishop's request visits to priests who are not familiar with the Legion of Mary have taken place.

Mauritius Island Regia: Minutes deal with visitation of homes, hospitals and areas where there are drug addicts and prostitutes. Under- privileged children were among others prepared for Baptism and other Sacraments. A day retreat was organised for junior legionaries. Councils held a joint meeting to organise plans for 2006. A Peregrinatio Pro Christo project is being arranged for Rodrigeux Island.
South America
Bolivia
La Paz Senatus: Due to political unrest the Senatus had to cancel its visit to the Comitium of Oruro for a few months. This Comitium has a variety of works including the saying of the Rosary in a house of ill repute and contacting the owners and girls there.
Ecuador
Quito Senatus has a Regia, 6 Comitia, 5 Curiae and 21 praesidia attached. They have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in all parishes and Stations of the Cross in homes of the sick. Portoviejo has many young members, 2 senior praesidia with 14 and 18 members and a junior praesidium.
Uruguay Senatus: The extension committee working in the Atlantida area where the Bishop is very supportive have set up a praesidium.
Peru
Lima Senatus: Cusco has set up new senior praesidia and have 2 junior praesidia. The Curia in Barranco has 12 praesidia all undertook Exploratio Dominicalis projects and held their 8th Congress. Surco Curia has 12 extension workers and reported 86 returns to the Sacraments. A praesidium has been set up in the jail in Miraflores. Their extension Committee reported many new praesidia and a family and one atheist converted.
Venezuela:
Caracas Senatus: The new Archbishop was a former legionary. Six Peregrinatio Pro Christo and 2 Maria et Patria projects were reported, one of which resulted in a junior praesidium of 24 members. Casa Sancta Maria praesidium organised 4 young peoples' retreats and cared for young girl whose mother had abandoned her. Thirteen brothels were visited. Evangelisation was done among the local Indians. Five former legionaries have been ordained.
Paraguay
Asuncion Senatus has 4 Comitia and 85 Curiae attached. The reports show good work being done. A junior praesidium for altar boys has been set up. The police, a military hospital and the jail are visited and the Archbishop and Nuncio attended an Annual Conference with 700 legionaries present. A jail praesidium has 27 active members.
Columbia
Bogota Senatus: The reports mention the increase in the number of young members in Mater Dei Regia in Tunja. La Milagrosa praesidium was congratulated for Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in a geriatric home, the promotion of the rosary and visits to the sick.

Extension Worker in South America

Bernardo De Nardo from Argentina who had been engaged in extension in South America on behalf of the Concilium was warmly welcomed to the meeting. He said it was a privilege for him to be present at the Concilium meeting again and he thanked the members for their prayers. He spent a month visiting the major Legion Councils in Mexico where he held useful meetings with council officers and correspondents. He identified areas in need of extension and encouraged the legionaries to take on new works including the visitation of circuses and immigrants.
There are more than 44,000 legionaries in Mexico City Senatus and in Durango there are 2 praesidia in the jail, which are doing great evangelisation.
In Guatemala, Bernardo De Nardo and council officers visited two Bishops who had agreed to start the Legion. A second Comitium was set up in Camotan and new praesidia were set up in Guatemala city. Areas for extension were assigned to the different councils and retreats for non-Catholics are to be organised. The Apostolic Nuncio who was also visited showed great interest.
A Peregrinatio Pro Christo project to Belize was organised in which 8 legionaries from Guatemala and 1 from Mexico took part. They found many non-Catholics there who had never been visited by Catholics and who showed interest in learning more about Catholicism. They also found several unbaptised children and 12 Baptisms were organised during the project. A new praesidium was also set up. Bernardo De Nardo visited some of the praesidia and encouraged them to contact non-Catholics. He also had a very productive meeting with the officers of a Curia. He met the Bishop and reported on the progress of the Legion in his Diocese. The Bishop had read about the Servants of God Frank Duff, Alfie Lambe and the Venerable Edel Quinn and had great admiration for them.
On his visit to Chile, Bernardo De Nardo visited most of the major councils and he was present at the inaugural meeting of a new Junior Curia.

Tommy McCabe, president of the Concilium thanked Bernardo De Nardo for his valuable work and he expressed his gratitude to Bernardo De Nardo's family for making it possible for him to undertake these visits to South American countries.

Visit from officers of the Senatus of Scotland,
the Senatus of Liverpool and the Senatus of Birmingham
The officers of the 3 Senatus in the UK attended discussions with officers of the Concilium on the Saturday before the February Concilium meeting. Each Senatus President addressed the Concilium the following day.
Veronica McNeece President of Scotland's Senatus reported it comprises 483 active and 4636 auxiliary members. A report on their apostolate was sent to the Bishop via the Laity Council. In addition to their main work of home to home visitation, they have developed a crib apostolate at Christmas. 25 cribs were set up during the 2005 Christmas period and many good contacts were made with people attracted by the cribs. The annual pilgrimage to the Marian shrine at Carfin which was started 50 years ago continues to be very successful. The Senatus set up 7 new praesidia last year and it sent an extension worker to one of its Western Isles for 1 month. As a result the praesidium there gained new members and took on extra works.
Denis Croghan, president of Liverpool Senatus who was visiting the Concilium for the first time spoke about his pleasure at being present and of his plans for the further development of the Senatus.
Rev. Fr. Ferns, Spiritual Director of Liverpool Senatus also on his first visit to the Concilium said he had been attached to the Legion since he was in the Seminary over 30 years ago and he found the visit very encouraging and heartening.
Ron Jones, president of Birmingham Senatus which governs the Legion in S.W. England and part of Wales spoke about the proposals for the visitation of councils, extension in areas where the Legion does not visit and the organisation of Peregrinatio Pro Christo projects.

Tommy McCabe thanked the officers of the 3 Senatus who had spent the day discussing items of Legion administration with officers of the Concilium.

Strasbourg Peregrinatio Pro Christ Conference

Enda Dunleavy and Colm Mannion, Secretary and Assistant Secretary of the Concilium respectively attended the annual Peregrinatio Pro Christo Conference in Strasbourg, which was held on 21/22 January 2006. Interesting reports were on Peregrinatio Pro Christo projects and a talk on the Servant of God Frank Duff followed by a slide show was given by Enda Dunleavy. Legionaries from France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and Italy attended.

Election of new Concilium Officer

Tadhg McMahon, former Concilium Envoy was unanimously elected for a first term as Assistant Secretary, having been duly proposed and seconded for the office.

Church Unity
The Legion Evening of Prayer for Christian Unity was held in St. Teresa's Carmelite Church, Clarendon Street, Dublin, on 19 January 2006. It consisted of a Holy Hour conducted by Rev. Fr. Charles Davy S.J. and a concelebrated Mass at which the chief celebrant and homilist was Rev. Fr. Gerard Deighan. About 400 people attended. Thanks were expressed to Assumpta Curia, Dublin which organised the event.
