Scotland
The Senatus recently received a report from Edinburgh Curia, which has 12 praesidia with 62 active and 518 auxiliary members. The legionaries run a video and audiotape library in the Cathedral parish. A Curia in Glasgow governs 18 senior and 1 junior praesidia. One of the praesidia recited the Rosary in schools during May. Greenock Curia carried out an extension drive in St. Mary's parish. A team of 10 legionaries mainly from Scotland carried out a 2 week Peregrinatio project in Oulu in Finland in July.
England
Senatus of Birmingham
To mark the year of the Eucharist, Coventry Curia organised a procession of the Blessed Sacrament through the city. The attendance of approximately 450 people included students from Warwick University. In Bristol 3 non-Catholics were received into the Church. South Birmingham Curia had a display stand at a three day Eucharistic Congress in Newman House. Over 1000 people were made aware of the Legion and several positive enquiries were received. Homosexual apostolate, street rescue and crowd contact are among the works carried out. Cornwall Curia recruited for and helped at a Eucharistic procession through the city, which had an excellent attendance. This was the first procession of the Blessed Sacrament since the Reformation in that city.
Liverpool Senatus:
Middlesbrough Comitium has 2 Curiae and 3 praesidia attached. The Rosary is recited in schools weekly and children are prepared for First Holy Communion. Door to door visitation is done weekly. Ashton Curia has 11 senior and 1 junior praesidia with full officerships. The praesidium in Newton-le-Willows has 8 active members who visit sheldered accommodation. A Rosary circle is held monthly.

Cardiff Comitium:Swansea Comitium :
An approach has been made to three new parishes for extension and street contact is done in Swansea city.
Wrexham Curia :
Four praesidia have a total membership of 26 including 1 praetorian member. They organized an outdoor Eucharistic Procession in May
Sweden (under the caretakership of Liverpool Senatus):
A praesidium in Stockholm is composed of Childean Catholics who visit members of their own community. The meetings are held in Arabic.
Germany
Frankfurt Senatus:
Many legionaries from Germany, Austria and many other Councils around the world attended the World Youth Day. The Legion day in Dusseldorf organised mainly by Cologne Regia during that week was well attended. Cologne Regia, which has been formally affiliated to Frankfurt Senatus, has 17 legionaries on probation following intensive Novenas of prayer. Comitium Freiburg with 15 directly attached praesidia, promoted the Rosary at the Protestant Church day in Hanover. Curia Saarlouis with 4 praesidia carries out an apostolate to children and young people. The International Curia in Berlin comprises German, Croatian, Spanish, Filipino and Vietnamese praesidia. A second Croatian praesidium comprising 5 mothers was established. Berlin Korean Curia: Bishop Dopont held a 3 day retreat with 163 present. Curia Aschaffenburg carry out visitation of new Catholics to the parish and Curia Darmstadt undertook extension in Biblis.
Munich Senatus:
Senatus Officers met with the Officers of Curia Nuernberg Fuerth, which has just 3 praesidia. Comitium Augsburg assisted at the Legion stand in Marienfield. The praesidium in Garching with 3 members visits new parishioners and those who have left the Church.
Netherlands
Senatus of Amsterdam:
The attached Korean Curia has 4 praesidia. Efforts are being made to start a praesidium in a centre for African people.
Belgium
Brussels Senatus:
A new praesidium has been set up in Molenbeck. Verviers Curia with 4 praesidia reported that in Liege 60 new auxiliary and 36 Adjutorians members were recruited.
Switzerland
Fribourg Comitium:
The 4 attached praesidia visit the sick and housebound. There is 1 praesidium functioning in St. Maurice and 2 in Zion.
Luzern Comitium:
The 4 attached praesidia and 2 attached Curiae continue their normal apostolate.
Luxembourg:
There are 3 praesidia attached and the possibility of getting help from Belgium is being explored.
France
Paris Regia:
A praesidium has been set up in Amiens for members of the Cape Verde community. The Haitian praesidium has divided and a second praesidium has been started. The Haitian legionaries are also helping to form another praesidium for parishioners who have attended some of their meetings.
Bro. Enda Dunleavy, Secretary of the Concilium, gave a talk on the life of the Servant of God, Frank Duff to an audience of about 300 in Paris on 11 November. The attendance was multi-national and included people of African, Asian and Caribbean origins as well as local French residents.
Valence Regia:
Nice Curia has 81 active and 190 auxiliary members. The praesidium at Sanary neat Toulon has set up a second group in its area. Functions for auxiliary members are held in Chateauneuf de Galaure in May and October. Avignon Curia has closed but there is one strong remaining praesidium in Nimes. Lyons Curia is continuing to follow up on contacts from several African countries met on a Peregrinatio project in 2004.

Jerusalem Comitium:
A reporting praesidium of 20 members (business men) visit homes, deal with the reconciliation of families, organise religious devotions and discussions with non-Catholics. Three attached Curiae in Ramallah, Nazareth and Bethlehem also reported.

Philippines
Western Visayas Senatus:
Juniors teach catechism and lead the Rosary in homes. A drug addict was helped through his illness and his funeral was arranged by legionaries. Seminarians do work among the disabled.
Cebu Senatus:
The Visayan Handbook is now available. All Councils report recruitment of active and auxiliary members. A Frank Duff prayer group is promoting the Cause in various ways including the Catholic TV network. A typical praesidium has 14 active, 5 probation, 8 praetorian, 114 auxiliary and 8 adjutorian members.
Bicolandia Senatus:
Children and adults are taught catechism, the Rosary is promoted and homes were enthroned to the Sacred Heart. Visitation of schools is a means of recruiting junior members.
Cagayon de Oro Senatus:
Legionaries are encouraged to 'seek out and speak to every soul' - which means contacting people in all walks of life. In the course of prison visitation the most spiritually deprived are met including street girls, one of whom was reconciled to the Church shortly before her death.
Manila Senatus:
Curiae have between 23 and 28 praesidia attached. There are numerous conversions of Muslims and non-Christians. Three Comitia have a total of 300 junior praesidia attached. Two children's clubs have been formed into junior praesidia. A Curia covering 2 parishes has 24 praesidia and a junior Curia of 16 praesidia. Extension is ongoing.
Guam Island has a Comitium and 3 Curiae. Extension and Exploratio feature in all reports.
Australia
Melbourne Senatus:
Copy of the annual audit has been received. Praesidia have small numbers, the exception being the Vietnamese praesidia. Vanuatu - Tribunes assist praesidia with the spiritual formation of members. The islands of Kiribati, Nauru, Noumea, Wallis and Futuna, all in the Pacific, report regularly to the Senatus: Perth Comitium reported that 500 attended a Rosary rally. A fine booklet on the history of the Legion in Australia and Oceania has been compiled by Fr. Joachim O'Brien OFM covers the period of 1931 - 2005. Articles by Frank Duff on the Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons have been translated into Kiribati.
Sydney Senatus:
The Korean Curia has 27 praesidia and report 49 Baptisms and receptions into the Church. Home visitation and instruction on how to say the Rosary to children is undertaken. A Peregrinatio Pro Christo team visited 2,900 homes and met 82 interested in the Catholic faith as well as 120 lapsed. Extension continues.
New Zealand Senatus:
Hospitals, nursing homes and other works of consolation are undertaken as well as catechism classes. Juniors work with seniors visiting the elderly and helping with the sale of literature. Two Korean Curiae in Auckland have 16 and 18 praesidia respectively. They provide a wide range of services for their community. Christchurch - the Korean Curia has 8 attached praesidia with an average membership of 9. Their works include prison visits and helping at the Catholic enquiry centre. Letters of welcome are sent to non-practicing parishioners. The newly Baptised are visited, promoting the Miraculous Medal. Extension is ongoing.
Papua New Guinea
Madang Senatus:
Juniors do great work teaching children the value of prayer and speak about the Real Presence to their own age group. Nine couples were prepared for marriage and 240 families helped to return to the Sacraments. A new Curia of 4 praesidia prepared 104 for Baptism, arranged for 25 returns to the Sacraments and for 15 marriages to be regularized. Tribal fighting sometimes interferes with Curia meetings and legionaries work to reconcile the opposing factions.

Ghana
Accra Senatus:
Cardinal Peter K.A. Turkson of Cape Coast was thanked for his recent letter and for his support of the Legion. The new President who has extensive knowledge of the country, has done a lot of extension and is known to many of the 18 Bishops. The attached Sunyani Regia reported 269 conversions, 98 of whom were gained via the Rosary apostolate. 369 received instruction for Baptism and 179 were prepared for Confirmation. An attached City Curia reported 30 returns to practice. Muslims, Traditional believers and Protestants were contacted in their homes and hospitals.
Zimbabwe
Hwange Comitium:
An All night Vigil was held on the 15 August and a Junior Congress took place at the end of August. One hundred and twenty attended a 3-day retreat. A new praesidium was set up and another revived.
Lesotho
Senatus of Lesotho:
A quotation has been received for 1000 Frank Duff prayer leaflets in the Sesotho language. Three reporting praesidia have a very good membership and members visit homes, hospitals, have an apostolate to the blind and teach children. Visitations to praesidia and Councils are ongoing.
Republic of South Africa, Botawana, Namibia and Swaziland
Cape Town Senatus:
One of the works of a praesidium of 13 was the preparing and serving of Christmas dinner in a high security prison. A praesidium of 15 members in its 40th annual report tells of a man who was converted prior to his death after many years of visitation. The praesidium at Francis Xavier Seminary has very good support from its Rector and some of the members have taken part in extension during their holidays. Contact has been re-established with Luderitz in Namibia. The president there had a fruitful meeting with the His Grace, Archbishop Lawrence Henry. Port Elizabeth Comitium: Three members of the Comitium visited the legionaries in King William's Town, East London and met some Religious Sisters at Port Alfred and arranged to make a return visit to the legionaries there.
Johannesburg Senatus:
A couple unmarried for 30 years were married in Church with their family in attendance. The attached Regina Mundi Comitium in Soweto had 100% attendance at its September meeting. Pretoria Comitium set up 2 new praesidia. HIV/AIDS victims are visited and comforted.
Durban Comitium:
A praesidium in Chatsworth, which counsels drug addicts and alcoholics, has 7 adjutorian and 50 auxiliaries.
Marianhill Comitium:
A praesidium of 15 feed and bathe the very sick and AIDS sufferers. Many are assured of a Catholic burial by the vigilance of the legionaries.
Matatiele Comitium:
A praesidium of 12 recorded 43 Baptisms, 47 Confirmations, 3 marriages regularized and 3 couples were prepared for marriage. Forty-eight catechumes are under instruction and 200 attended a youth pilgrimage.
Saint Augustine's Comitium:
A 3-day retreat was organised for members of the 13 attached Curiae.
Angola
Benguela Regia:
A Junior Curia of 289 members prepare children for First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Representatives of the 20 attached Comitia attended the 25th anniversary celebrating the erection of the Regia. Most of the Comitia have been visited and the Regia has now 26,615 senior and 2,332 junior active members and 4,313 auxiliary members. Some of the Comitia have as many as 17 Curiae attached.
Cabo Verde
Praia Regia:
As a result major restructuring, a new Comitium was set up and several new Curiae were created. On the island of Fogo, a Curia was divided and a Comitium has been established. In 2004 there was a growth in the number of praesidia and in membership.
Visit to Nigeria
Bro. Paddy Fay, Concilium correspondent, and Bro. Francis Moyles a member of a Curia in the West of Ireland, reported on a 3-week visit, which they paid to Councils in northern Nigeria on behalf of the Concilium. Preparation had been made in the various dioceses and parishes for the visit. The visitors spent about 7 days in the Abuja Regia area, where there are 10 Comitia and 3 Curiae. They were driven from Abjua city to Lokoja Idah Makurdi, Otupo and Lafia Comitia/Dioceses and in all these areas they had inter active sessions with the legionaries. They were brought to meet Vicar Generals, parish priests and spiritual directors. The Archbishop of Abuja was in Rome for the Synod but on his return, at the Mass for All Saints in his Cathedral he invited the visitors to address the packed Church.
As well as visiting Kaduna Archdiocese, the Irish legionaries also visited the suffragen dioceses of Sokoto, Kano, Zaria, Kanfanchan and Minna. Kaduna Regia governs 10 Comitia and 3 Curiae and there are about 35,000 persons in the various grades of membership. In Sokoto, where there is just one parish in the town, there are 32 senior and 25 junior praesidia. The visitors met the Archbishop of Kaduna and Bishops of 4 of the suffragan dioceses.
During their stay in Jos, the visitors attended the Regia meeting where they met officers from the far away Comitia of Maiduguri, Yola and Jalingo. They also visited Bauchi diocese. The Archbishop of Jos was most gracious and he acknowledged the debt owed by the Nigerian Church to Irish missionaries.
The Legion is engaged in various types of evangelisation in northern Nigeria including an apostolate to HIV/AIDS sufferers and street rescue work. There are also praesidia in prisons. As a Church organisation it is widely respected because it works quietly and efficiently and does not look for finance or kudos.
The Legion is very extensive in northern Nigeria and the organisation in the Councils is impressive. Both visitors thanked the Concilium for the privilege of witnessing the vitality of the Church and the Legion in Nigeria. Bro. Tommy McCabe, President of the Concilium thanked both legionaries for carrying out this important visit to the northern Nigerian Councils.
Extension Worker in South America
Bro. Bernardo de Nardo has completed his work in Guatemala where he helped the legionaries to prepare for the setting up of more Comitia and hopefully for one higher council at a later state. He is now moving on to another country to carry out a visitation on behalf of the Concilium.
Peregrinatio Pro Christo Conference
The annual Autumn Conference held in Dublin on the weekend of 29/30 October was very successful. An attendance of about 270 heard reports on 8 UK projects organised from Dublin as well as Birmingham's international project to Berlin and projects to Sweden and Finland organized by Liverpool Senatus and the Senatus of Scotland respectively. Visitors from European countries reported on their projects in 2005. The overseas visitors included legionaries from Spain, Germany, Austria and Malta. In addition to the reports and discussion on Peregrinatio work, two interesting talks were given to the participants. One talk was given by Sr. Marie Dunleavy on the history and the development of the Peregrinatio movement over the years and the other by Bro. Tom Smith on his personal reminiscences of the Servant of God, Frank Duff who inspired the Peregrinatio Pro Christo apostolate for many years.
25th Anniversary Mass, commemorating the Servant of God Frank Duff
St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral, Dublin was filled to capacity for this afternoon Mass on Saturday 19 November 2005. His Grace the Most Rev. Diaimuid Martin, D.D. Archbishop of Dublin was the principal celebrant and Homilist. Over twenty priests concelebrated with him. In his address the Archbishop spoke of Frank Duff's early years, his vision of the role of the laity in the Church, his spirituality and his attendance at the Vatican Council. After the Mass the congregation enjoyed some refreshments in a local Hotel where a display relating to the Legion was exhibited. Bro. Liam Hayden, Assistant Secretary of the Concilium and the officers of Bethlehem Curia were thanked for the work they put into the organising of this special event.
