Regional Conference for Council Officers in the North of Ireland
Three Spiritual Directors and about 40 other Officers of 17 Legion Councils in the north of Ireland gathered in Derry on Saturday 4 October 2003, to discuss the spirituality, formation, administration and apostolate of the Legion of Mary and the needs of their area. They were joined by four Concilium Officers, including the Spiritual Director, Rev. Fr. Joseph Moran, O.P. and four Concilium correspondents.
Father Moran gave an introduction to the Conference and along with other Spiritual Directors made valuable contributions during the day. There was a good discussion on the needs which exist. Lapsation from the Church is a big problem. There is a need to concentrate on home to home visitation. Attention should also be given to seeking conversions to the Church. The importance of promoting prayer among young children was stressed. Following the Conference, Mass was concelebrated with Father Moran as Chief Celebrant and homilist.
