CONCILIUM BULLETINS 2003
JUNE 2003
AFRICA
Rwanda
Kigali Senatus: Five praesidia with 97 active members, reported contact in the course of visitation of homes. hospitals, prisons and orphanages with Catholics many of whom were lapsed. There is a continuous and successful campaign to bring back those who are lapsed to practice of the Faith. Catechism is taught to adults and children, the rosary is promoted and efforts are made to recruit young and literate members. Some non-Christians were prepared for the sacraments and on reception into the Church had their children baptised. Byumba Curia has two Curiae in prisons, but it is difficult to visit them. Better all round administration has helped to reduce the large number of very small Curiae to a more manageable number. The Senatus Spiritual Director said that the appointment of a Diocesan Chaplain for the Kigali Archdiocese is a special sign of the support of Our Lord and His Mother for the Legion of Mary in Rwanda, as it prepares to celebrate its Golden Jubilee in August of this special year of the rosary. A meeting of Spiritual Directors from all Dioceses has been held to discuss the Jubilee celebrations.

The Legion of Mary Causes for Beatification
Every legionary is expected to be active in introducing the intercessory powers and seeking prayers for the beatification of the Servants of God Frank Duff, Alphonsus Lambe and the Venerable Edel Quinn.
When introducing the prayers of Beatification we must be diligent in explaining with absolute clarity, that in the event of prayers being answered and petitions granted, the beneficiaries should write without delay to Concilium. Petitions granted will relate to physical, mental, family matters, changes in the life styles or disasters averted. A particular answer to prayer could be the foundation stone of a miracle capable of authentication, with enormous consequences for the particular Cause.
Every favour received or petition granted and reported will add weight to the considerable spiritual standing of Frank, Edel or Alphonsus. All these reports when taken together are most influential and their value cannot be adequately stated.
